Academy Ballet 6-8yrs

Ballet classes for the more ‘serious’ dancer aged 6-8yrs
We offer beautiful traditionally structured classical ballet classes perfect for those who are curious about pursuing ballet exams. This class is most suitable for dancers who are self-driven and enjoy a challenge.
Academy Ballet is our more structured ballet class perfect for self-motivated dancers who would like more of a challenge in their ballet.
Our senior dancers in Academy Ballet will take the Dance Out Loud Graduation exam, which is designed to introduce dancers gently to the ballet examination experience. This is the perfect way to decide if you would like to continue ballet exams when you graduate from Dance Out Loud. A special ballet uniform is required for this class, and emphasis is placed on ballet etiquette, presentation, and dancers begin to take responsibility for their own grooming. Grownups are asked to wait outside for this class.
Academy Ballet dancers in class are encouraged to engage in goal-setting and to discuss the steps required both in class and at home to achieve their goals. Your Academy Ballet dancer will learn to support their peers, to navigate conflict and to challenge their own negative thoughts to build self esteem and resilience.
Academy Ballet dancers are our senior dancers in the studio, and perform a special dance at our yearly Recital in a real classical ballet tutu! When dancers are 8 years old and have taken our graduation exam, they will graduate from Dance Out Loud onto pursue their dreams having has the best possible start!

What To Expect

You will be welcomed into the studio for your first lesson, and introduced to some of the other dancers in your class. All lessons begin with a welcome, warm-up dance and skill progression. We learn new concepts each week, and build on these throughout the term and the year! Each class involves a creative movement exercise set to music to inspire young dancers.

What To wear

We have no set uniform at Dance Out Loud, and your dancer is free to express themselves in an outfit of their choosing.
For Ballet: Tights, stretchy leggings, a dress, skirt or ballet outfit are all perfect. Bare feet (no socks or stockings) are fine for your first class. Ballet shoes are best bought from a dance wear supplier, here is a link to our shop:
